Drug prevention education in technical and professional industrial specialties

Abstract
Drug prevention education has been a problem in recent years due to its effects on the health and learning of children, adolescents, and young adults. In Technical and Vocational Education, this problem also has the connotation of negative effects on the training of future skilled workers and mid-level technicians. In response, the central objective of this article was to evaluate the current state of drug prevention education at the 1ro de Mayo Industrial Polytechnic Center in Pinar del Río. The search for information to address the problem was made possible through the use of theoretical (inductive-deductive and analytical-synthetic) and empirical (document review, observation, and questioning) methods. As key results, the evaluation identified the current state of drug prevention education, primarily focusing on tobacco and alcohol as gateways for illegal drugs. The results also highlight the need to address the shortcomings of the process in order to effectively educate future mid-level professionals.
