Pedagogical strategy for the training of Immunology residents in breastfeeding

Abstract
Immunology is a transdisciplinary specialty that intervenes in all medical functions, contributing to the solution of population health problems related to immune system disorders, especially in early life. The study assesses the shortcomings in the training of immunology residents regarding the benefits of breastfeeding, which hinders their adequate professional performance and constitutes a problem. The objective was to develop a teaching strategy for breastfeeding training. Scientific methods such as analysis-synthesis, historical-logical, systemic-structural-functional, and statistical-mathematical methods were used, as well as the empirical technique of surveying faculty and residents, which allowed the research to be directed toward the process under investigation. As a result, improved performance was evident in guidance, educational, and preventive actions by immunologists with pregnant women and mothers. It was concluded that the dynamics of the aforementioned process, where education-prevention and the comprehensive approach to this procedure from a psycho-neuro-endocrine-immunological perspective, are its distinctive essence, with a view to influencing the reduction and rates of the appearance of infectious diseases in the first 720 days after birth and the subsequent health promotion.
