Every purpose of guiding and making sense of our life must begin by trying to understand what it is, so that we can train ourselves to face it better and live it successfully. This was always considered a first-order task by Noemí Domínguez Ramos, a teacher who knew how to impose a deep mark on each person who had the privilege of knowing and sharing with her.
She was born in the province of Pinar del Río, on May 14, 1939 and died on September 26, 2018. Her studies were carried out in the Primary and Higher Schools of boys of the capital city; she graduated as a teacher in the Normal School of Pinar del Río.
She began her educational work in the year 1957, with 18 years of age, and she dedicated 30 years of her life as a primary school teacher. She featured for her work in the second cycle, she worked in multi-grade classrooms in rural primary schools, in the cherries of Guane Municipality, in Las Maravillas in San Juan y Martínez, in the Antonio Guiteras Holmes Seminary.
The support given to all her students in the treatment for mastering the contents of the different subjects taught was her proudest. Likewise, her moral and material support was outstanding for the students, whom she brought snack when she noticed that they were from homes of extreme poverty.
She was an example of wife, mother and educator - golden form of the new generations. With her example, she managed to consolidate a family, which is today part of the noblest traditions of struggle of our people, she felt very proud of her children, she saw them grow and become professionals in the inclusive social project promoted by the Revolution. One of her daughters followed his example and devotes herself to today the most noble of professions, the teaching profession.
In the speech delivered at the opening ceremony of the 1977-1978 School Year and presented in the Granma newspaper on September 3rd, 1977, our top leader Fidel Castro expressed "The Revolution does not ask parents to worry about behavior and education of their children collaborating with the school and teachers: the Revolution demands it." And Noemí so demanded her disciples, but that eloquence and kindness emanating from a woman who had the gift to impose her respect and wisdom with a fine and delicate way that, more than a requirement and request, was a first order requirement for her students.
Just as the trunk of the trees expands and extends its branches to the middle, similarly Naomi extended her teachings with affections and loves in a maternal way to each of her students, to collect the fruit of everything learned and revert it to the society for the benefit of all, with full respect for the dignity of each and the responsibility of being better citizens. The writer and politician Domingo Faustino Sarmiento said. (1811-1888) "The disciples are the biography of the teacher."
The example of her teachers instilled in her this marked love for the profession, it was an extension of her work, everything that was mobilized in her, was due to the characteristics of her personality, her great strength, her great impetus to drag to her students, and thus she, also historian, was part of the team of historians of the San Juan y Martínez Municipality, where she worked on the theme related to the colony.
She was the principal author of the document written on the History of the Gallope Sugar factory, was responsible for the first retired classroom for the University of the Elderly, where very good results were obtained, participated in numerous events, among which I, II, and III Congress of History held at the Provincial School of the Party" Abel Santa Maria Cuadrado", was also a union leader for several years and representative of the Election Council for more than 10 years. Her assessments as a teacher were always the best, showing exemplary and unconditional love of his profession, she was tireless despite her health and his age.
She was part of the faculty of teaching based in San Juan y Martinez for 3 years, her students loved her very much very much for her way of acting with them, She was nominated with Gold chalk for his teaching expertise and the respect her students felt for her.
Education and preparation for life must be based fundamentally on the understanding and appropriate assessment of what is best for each student, based on the full knowledge of their potential that make human beings better every day and that is why of this teacher who made her work a living gospel for future generations, it is not a better teacher who knows best, but the one who teaches with the heart, Naomi repeated to her disciples. To you, master, our agreements.
