The book Moral and citizenship education is a basic text for the study of the necessary elements that allow the creation of a life project based on the society we wish to build. It presents contents that cover particularities that are manifested in the socialization process developed within the family, school and community.

The moral and citizen education of adolescents constitutes an essential purpose of the Cuban State, which finds one of its modes of concretion in the subject Moral and citizen education for the Basic Secondary level. The aforementioned subject is part of the Education for citizen life discipline and takes into account the place that this education occupies in the formation of a revolutionary, patriotic, moral, political and legal awareness, as essential components of the civics of students, in whose core are the contents of the historical bases of this; that is, morals, politicians and legal entities, in interaction with the other ideological forms of social conscience and the fundamental values ​​we aspire.

This allows self-regulated participation in the process of perfecting the society we build, that identity acts as a civic value and, to this end, contributes to the development of knowledge, habits and skills, as well as to the formation of feelings and values ​​that allow the adolescent to integrate in a responsible manner and participate in the improvement of society, strengthen the knowledge of the Constitution of the Republic as a supreme law, the understanding of human rights and its consequent application in Cuba.

The reading of its pages helps to understand the fundamentals of citizen culture, whose base is the knowledge of the system of socialist legality in Cuba, as a necessary condition for citizen formation, which assumes the family as a fundamental cell, by its responsibility in the education of adolescents for the construction of Cuban society in the conditions of the 21st century. Hence the need to demonstrate feelings of love and respect towards the family and develop attitudes in accordance with the duties and rights within the framework of the same and the responsibility of adolescents towards the future of the socialist homeland.

The content of this book is organized with an expressive and didactic conception in three chapters, developed by epigraphs. It also has a system of activities, illustrations, bibliography and annexes that facilitate and make reading more enjoyable.

The chapters refer to the laws in Cuba: Fundamentals of rights and duties, the family and the community and the responsibility of Cuban adolescents in the face of the future of the socialist homeland. The first chapter will allow the reader to develop the capacity for knowledge of the essential foundations as an exercise of citizen participation; the second will facilitate instruction regarding the legal functioning of social groups such as the family, the community in society, their contribution to the preparation of young adolescents in the conformation of their life project, emphasizing their citizen behavior in the home, the school and society; The third one refers to the responsibility of adolescents towards the future of the country, to the concretion of a personal performance in the different spheres of the life of the current Cuban society, so that it can shape its future life project.

The book offers an operationalization of the objectives of all the structural elements that comprise it, through initial questions in each chapter: What will you learn? What is it for? What should I know? Activities such as: Check what you have learned and others that are identified as a challenge. It makes available a glossary of basic concepts for the theoretical-practical understanding of moral and civic education that is stated in the text, in which the patriotic, citizen and legal education is articulated; scientific-technological; for health and sexuality with a gender approach; esthetic; polytechnic-labor-economic and professional; communicative; environmental for sustainable development; of orientation, social projection and life. It provides a bibliographic synthesis with a strong concrete social character, never departing from the historical truth of Cuba.

We believe that this work should be a teaching support material in the universities of the country, because it is the responsibility of all education professionals to contribute to the integral formation of the personality of the student of any age and level of education, through development of a developer educational process, the use of productive, application, dialogic, decision-making methods; on the basis of the use of various sources, which should lead him to deepen the study, understanding and achievement of moral and citizen education.
